[ Story ]
Based on Yamada Futaro's greatly entertaining ninja action novel, 'Samurai Resurrection' comes to the screen once again, 22 years after the late Fukasaku Kinji's adaptation. This is the first samurai period film from director Hirayama Hideyuki, whose recent credits include Laughing Frog and OUT.
Amakusa Shiro (Kubozuka Yosuke), who was killed in the Shimabara War, mysteriously appears in the peaceful time of Edo. He has learned the forbidden magic spell of resurrection, which has the power to bring the dead back to life. He has brought back all the famous dead samurais to serve as his army. Shiro attempts to overthrow the Tokugawa Iemitsu government, but Yagyu Jubei (Sato Koichi) stands up against him. Jubei manages to defeat Shiro's men, before he has to face his own father, Yagyu Tajimano-kami, who turns out to be one of Shiro's soldiers. After having to kill his resurrected father, he finally challenges Shiro himself in the final battle.
